Our Team Structure

Our F1 in Schools team is organised to reflect the structure of a professional motorsport team, where each member has a clearly defined role and set of responsibilities. This structure allows us to work efficiently, manage time effectively, and ensure that every aspect of the project — from engineering to branding — is developed to a high standard.

Each team member specialises in a specific area while working collaboratively to ensure that all decisions support the team’s overall performance, identity, and objectives.

Team Manager — Lucas Garcia

The Team Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire project and ensuring that the team operates efficiently and professionally.

Lucas Garcia coordinates all team activities, manages deadlines, and ensures clear communication between all roles. He leads strategic decision-making, monitors progress across technical and non-technical areas, and ensures that the team remains aligned with competition regulations and objectives.

In addition, the Team Manager represents the team in formal situations, including judge interactions and external communications, ensuring that the team presents itself with confidence, organisation, and professionalism at all times.

Sponsorship Manager — Hugo Martinez

The Sponsorship Manager is responsible for managing the financial and commercial aspects of the team.

Hugo Martinez leads the development of sponsorship strategies, identifying potential partners and preparing professional sponsorship proposals. He manages relationships with sponsors, ensures that agreements are respected, and communicates the value that the team offers through branding, exposure, and professionalism.

This role is essential to ensuring the team’s financial sustainability, allowing resources to be allocated efficiently to manufacturing, materials, and promotional activities. The Sponsorship Manager also plays a key role in the enterprise and business planning elements of the competition.

Design Engineer — Alvaro van Boven

The Design Engineer is responsible for the conceptual and technical design of the F1 in Schools car.

Alvaro van Boven focuses on creating a car that is aerodynamically efficient, structurally sound, and fully compliant with competition regulations. He develops detailed CAD models, refines body geometry, and analyses how airflow, mass distribution, and component positioning affect performance.

Working closely with the Manufacturing Engineer, he ensures that all design decisions are realistic and manufacturable, allowing the final car to achieve optimal performance without compromising precision or reliability.

Manufacturing Engineer — Joaquin Cortes

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for converting the digital design into a precise physical product.

Joaquin Cortes manages the entire manufacturing process, including material preparation, machining, assembly, and surface finishing. He ensures that the car is produced with high accuracy, correct tolerances, and minimal mass, while maintaining structural integrity.

This role also involves quality control and collaboration with the Design Engineer to ensure that the final manufactured car accurately reflects the original design and performs reliably during testing and racing.

Graphic Designer — Miguel de la Cruz

The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining the team’s visual identity.

Miguel de la Cruz develops the team’s branding elements, including logos, colour schemes, typography, and graphic assets. His work ensures consistency across all materials, such as portfolios, pit displays, presentations, and digital platforms.

A strong and coherent visual identity is essential in F1 in Schools, as it reflects the team’s professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail, which are all assessed by judges and valued by sponsors.

Visual Designer — Enzo Piattoni

The Visual Designer focuses on how the team’s identity is presented in physical and visual environments.

Enzo Piattoni is responsible for the layout and visual impact of the pit display, presentation slides, and other physical materials. He ensures that information is displayed clearly, attractively, and in a way that reinforces the team’s brand identity.

By combining creativity with structure, the Visual Designer helps the team communicate its story, values, and professionalism effectively to judges, sponsors, and visitors.
